John Ripard, son of John Ripard – one of the founders of the Rolex Middle Sea Race, is proud to be returning to the Rolex Middle Sea Race aboard Lazy Duck, last raced in 2008 with an 8th overall finish. After an extensive refit, John and his son Tom will be tackling the race double-handed, marking a special father-and-son adventure around a course they both love. Tom, who has completed several fully-crewed races, shared, “It’s extra special to do this with my Father on a boat I grew up on. We’re nearly ready and can’t wait to get to the start line!”

The 46th Rolex Middle Sea Race

The Rolex Middle Sea Race is a 606nm offshore classic. It is often mentioned in the same breath as the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and the Rolex Fastnet Race as one of the ‘must do’ 600 milers. Featuring a circular route, two active volcanoes and a host of other islands, the course has a unique splendour not to be missed.
