As the fleet has started its way back to Malta on Sunday morning, yesterday a seventeen strong fleet took the start line at 1000hrs under the directions of Race Management Team made up of Martin Azzopardi, Adrian Gauci Borda and Piero Picone.
The fleet were set a windward course towards Filfla, rounding the island to port and a return to back to the finish line.
A finicky wind, with approximately 6 to 10 knots from West to West North West saw the first finishers arrive around 1615hrs, with the last boats making it very close to the time limit.
In spite of the long distances, there were some close finishes.
At end of Saturday, the provisional overall leaderboard was made up of Ton Ton Laferla (Jonathan Gambin), Vivace (Andrew Agius Delicata/Matthew Gabriele) and Pep (Mark Camilleri). Dimm (Kevin Pisani Zammit) was leading the IRC Cruisers fleet.
This morning, the fleet are on their way to Malta, and the Club will later on host a Prize Giving evening to wrap up the Spring Gozo Regatta.
