Royal Malta Yacht Club and Real Liga Naval Española Sign Reciprocal Agreement

The Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) and the Real Liga Naval Española (RLNE) recently signed a reciprocal agreement, a sign of the long standing and strong maritime ties between Malta and Spain. This collaboration aims to enhance sailing opportunities and foster closer relations between the two respected maritime organisations.

The event started with a presentation on “The Royal Spanish Armada on relief of the Great Siege of Malta 1565” given by Mr. Mario Chiapetto, who eloquently highlighted the historical connections between Malta and Spain. The presentation detailed the centuries-old maritime and cultural links that have united the two nations, underscoring the significance of the new partnership.

The Reciprocal Agreement was signed by Royal Malta Yacht Club Commodore Mr David Cremona, and Mr Mark Napier, Vice Commodore and Mr Alberto Franceschi Candeo, on behalf of the Real Liga Naval Española.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Ambassador of Spain Mr Jose Maria Muriel, H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to Hungary Mr. Roberto Buontempo, Mrs. Claudia Carraro d’Amore,  Brigadier Clinton J O’Neill Commander Armed Forces of Malta and Mr Max Zammit, Ta’Xbiex Mayor.

The reciprocal agreement will allow members from each Club to enjoy the facilities and resources of the other, promoting cultural exchange and shared sailing experiences.

“This agreement marks a new chapter in the enduring relationship between Malta and Spain, celebrating our shared maritime heritage. We look forward to future collaborations” – David Cremona, Commodore.
