RMYC Sailing School’s Tomek Vaccaro finishes 6th Overall at the ILCA 6 Men’s European Championship in Marstrand, Sweden

Tomek Vaccaro delivered an impressive result at the ILCA 6 Men’s European Championship in Marstrand, Sweden, finishing 6th overall and 5th in the U21 category.

The event featured 11 races over six days, with a full mix of conditions. Racing began with two windy days, followed by two light-wind days where only one race was completed. The race committee had to catch up on the final days, which brought stronger winds and allowed for six more races to be sailed.

The venue, located on the island of Marstrand, offered a scenic and traditional setting. The racecourse was positioned far offshore, adding extra challenge with strong currents.

Tomek’s consistent performance across all conditions reflects both his personal development and the strength of the Royal Malta Yacht Club’s racing programme, backed by the dedication of its coaching team.

The next event for our RMYC Youth racing team is the U21 ILCA World Championships, taking place in Dublin, Ireland from 21–29 August. Lara Merten will compete in the ILCA 6 Women’s fleet, while Mathew Flores will represent Malta in the ILCA 7 Men’s fleet.
