Finalists Decided as RMYC Dinghy Regatta Heats Up

The second round of the RMYC Dinghy Regatta took place this week on Monday and Tuesday and resulted in establishing which crews made it to the final and consolation rounds.

In Group 1 Sebastian and Olivia Ripard secured first place overall with six victories out of eight races and finishing on just 6 points after discards. Hot on their heels were Jake Azzopardi and Michaela Gauci Borda, whose consistent sailing earned them second place with 10 points. The final spot went to Camille Legroux and Seda Shahmuradyan, who tallied 17 points to round off the top three.

In Group 2, Gary Mercieca and Clara Farrugia narrowly clinched the top spot, finishing with 18 points—just one ahead of Luca Schembri Meli and Roberta Farrugia, who placed second with 19 points. Vinicius Degrave and Nicole Zemoz followed closely in third, ending the first part of the series with 21 points.

These crews will now face each other in the final round of competition on Tuesday 10th June when crews will start again on equal footing, with three races expected to take place on the day.

Special thanks goes to Race Officer Adrian Gauci Borda who was assisted by Michelle Caruana, Carina Galicka, Manuel Gatt and Neity Maddock.
