Royal Malta Yacht Club Welcomes Royal Ocean Racing Club Commodore Dr Deborah Fish

The Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) had the pleasure of welcoming distinguished guests from the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC), led by Dr Deborah Fish — the first woman ever to be elected Commodore of the RORC.

In his address, the Royal Malta Yacht Club Commodore Mark Napier extended a warm welcome, highlighting the longstanding collaboration between the two Clubs. This partnership, which began with a friendly sporting challenge 58 years ago, led to the creation of the first Middle Sea Race in 1968.

“Through this collaboration, and with your continuous support, we have seen the Rolex Middle Sea Race flourish into one of the world’s most renowned offshore yacht races,” Commodore Napier noted, while thanking RORC for their enduring partnership.

The RMYC also congratulated the Royal Ocean Racing Club on marking 100 years of sporting excellence and leadership in offshore racing, presenting a token of appreciation to commemorate the milestone.
