Royal Malta Yacht Club Announces Tommy Hilfiger as Sponsors of Fully Crewed Figure of 8 Race

Partnership coincides with launch of iconic brand’s Sailing Collection in Malta

The Royal Malta Yacht Club is pleased to announce that Tommy Hilfiger will be supporting the forthcoming Fully Crewed Figure of 8 Race, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday 12th April.

The partnership comes at an exciting time, as Tommy Hilfiger prepares to launch its new Sailing Collection in Malta. Inspired by the sea and built for performance, the collection blends technical innovation with the brand’s signature classic style—a natural fit for the dynamic and adventurous spirit of offshore racing.

“This collaboration brings together two worlds that share a deep appreciation for the sea, precision, and passion,” said Mark Napier, Commodore of the Royal Malta Yacht Club. “We are proud to have a globally recognised brand like Tommy Hilfiger supporting the Fully Crewed Figure of 8 Race. Their involvement adds prestige and excitement to an event that continues to grow in popularity.”

The Figure of 8 Race offers an exhilarating challenge as teams navigate a scenic course looping around Malta and Gozo. Open to fully crewed teams, the race consistently draws a competitive fleet of local talent. Among the standout entries is Jonathan Gambin’s Ton Ton Laferla, fresh off a win at the International Yacht Paint Regatta and making a strong return after nearly a year’s break. The race also enjoys solid participation from the cruising community, including Mario Debono’s Janissah and Steve Carter’s Stella R.

Adding to the excitement, participants and guests will get an exclusive preview of the brand’s upcoming Sailing Collection, set to launch locally around the same time.

“Drawing inspiration from the brand’s rich history in sailing, the Tommy Hilfiger Sailing Archive Gear features high-quality, functional pieces that offer both style and innovation. Using durable materials to emphasis performance while also staying true to the Tommy Hilfiger timeless aesthetic. We are proud to collaborate with the Royal Malta Yacht Club for the Fully Crewed Figure of 8 Race. This partnership not only highlights our commitment to performance-driven style, but also our passion for the sea and its timeless allure.” remarked Joseph Borg, Fashion Brand Director at Hudson Group.
