The Royal Malta Yacht Club, Sailing School, is the principal club for racing and dinghy sail training in Malta, and we are looking to expand our team of instructors/coaches in 2021/22.
There are vacancies for an RYA Senior Instructor (or relevant) and intern instructors looking for work experience starting in October 2021. These positions would ideally suit 18 to 26-year-olds looking to gain experience in the water-sports sector.
The successful candidates should bring a balance of professionalism and fun to the sailing schools programmes. The school has implemented a pathway strategy for young sailors to follow from beginner to racer. Therefore, the school would be looking to build on the success of its programmes with a strong candidate for the role of Senior Dinghy Instructor/Racing Coach.
The position of SI would suit an enthusiastic young instructor with one or two years of experience in a similar position. The successful candidate salary would be based on their experience, with accommodation provided. For the posts of internship instructor, the school would be looking for instructors to start in October 2021 and finish in September 2022.
Specification:
- RYA SI, DI (or relevant)
- Some Optimist/ILCA Laser racing experience would be desirable
- RYA Powerboat level 2 (or relevant)
- Valid 1st Aid Certificate
- Additional endorsements welcomed
Job Description:
Responsibilities of the SI, DI’s may include but are not limited to the following:
Carry out all lessons in line with the RYA syllabus and RMYC Sailing School Standard Operating Procedures.
To provide instruction in the club racing classes and helps assist the principal in further developing the school’s pathways.
Assist with safety and sailing fleet boat maintenance. RMYC Sailing School boat classes are RS Visions, RS Feva, Laser Bug, optimist and ILCa Laster 4.7 and Radial.
Candidates must be hard-working, organised, self-sufficient, with a high standard of personal grooming as you will be ambassadors for the Royal Malta Yacht Club.
