The 2026 RMYC Winter Series powered by Beneteau came to a thrilling conclusion on Saturday afternoon, with the fifth and final race of the series sailed around the Munxar Cardinal Mark. With the discard now in play, several placings were poised to shift, setting the stage for an exciting finale.
In the IRC Class, Anthony Calleja’s L’Artista had been vying for overall honours, but damage sustained earlier in the month prevented the J99 from competing in the final race — paving the way for Luis Azzopardi’s Kixx Me to take the overall class win. A second-place finish on Saturday saw the IMX44 climb to the top of the leaderboard on 11 points. Level on points was David Anastasi’s Pippus, which secured third place in the final race. Jonathan Gambin’s TonTon Laferla once again took the win on the day but had to settle for third overall, having sat out the opening two rounds of the series.

In the RMYC Club Class, Dennis Gatt’s Sophie’s Choice claimed victory in the final race, with Ali Namli’s Exaltor crossing the line in second and Matthew Zarb Cousin’s Thunder Child rounding out the podium in third. A fourth-place finish for Martin Kunath’s Forever 25 was enough to secure the overall series win, just two points ahead of Thunder Child, with Exaltor taking third overall.

“The Winter Series by Beneteau has been arguable one of the strongest fleets ever recorded for a Winter Series, reaching 19 boats throughout the entire series. We look forward to keeping the momentum going,” said Adrian Gauci Borda, Rear Commodore (Sailing).
The Club thanked Mediterranean Yacht Sales, exclusive representatives for the Beneteau brand in Malta for their support.
The next event on the Club’s calendar is the Paymix Pro Ragusa Regatta taking place between the 1st and 3rd May.
